A shelf beats a sunny window ledge

A mantis makes excellent use of vertical space, so it does not need a large floor plan. A quiet shelf with room for a tall enclosure is usually better than a busy desk. The enclosure still needs a secure perch high enough for climbing and molting.[1][2]
